CEI-RD: Boosting exports will be a priority in 2016

Santo Domingo. The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), announced the first and groundbreaking Multi Sector Export Fair of the Dominican Republic, DR Exports 2016, which will be held from June 27th to the 29th 2016, at the Port of Sansouci Convention Center in Eastern Santo Domingo.

The information was given during a press conference held at CEI-RD headquarters, the press conference was called by Jean A. Rodriguez, Executive Director of the institution, to make the details of the event known.

He explained that DR Exports is striving to become the largest exposition platform of international scope for the country’s export sector.  “Showcasing, under one roof, all export opportunities of the sectors linked to Agribusiness, Construction, Manufacture & Industry, Health & Beauty, Technology, Artisanal Goods, Government and export services”.

According to Jean A. Rodriguez, this important event will bring together national companies and producers with international buyers through product presentation, business meetings, lectures, and presentations, with the goal of closing contracts, establishing ties, and creating dynamic commercial exchange between the presenters and buyers.

Over 1,000 potential clients

He emphasized that over 1,000 interested clients are expected, representing mayor purchasing companies from about 50 countries, and invited all producers with export potential to take advantage of this great opportunity and contract space to exhibit their products and increase sales.

He explained that an event of this kind has never taken place in the country and that as the responsible entity for boosting and fomenting exports and Dominican investments abroad, during the current year 2016, he plans to intensify even more initiatives related to the promotion of exports, in order to contribute to achieving the development goals contemplated by the National Strategic Plan which is currently being undertaken by the administration Mr. Danilo Medina, President of the Dominican Republic, in order to create wealth and generate quality jobs.

DR offers a diverse production and advances in infrastructure

Taking advantage of the opportunity to promote the event, the Executive Director of the CEI-RD reiterated that the Dominican Republic has some of the most advanced infrastructure in the region, with excellent transport, and logistics facilities, apart from offering a wide and diverse production, with over 3,780 high quality product lines.

“We have a variety of products which are exported to over 170 countries around the world, contributing to position us as leaders among different world rankings and we have the ability to export much more and it’s for this very reason that we are holding this event. “We will bring the buyers to our producers and we want them to close contracts”, he stated.

“It is worth noting that exports contribute greatly to the national economy, being this sector one that contributes nearly 10 Billion Dollars to the country”, he ended by saying.
