Santo Domingo. The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD, for its initials in Spanish), and the Dominican Association of Exporters (ADOEXPO, for its initials in Spanish), agreed to increase global promotional methods and means, with the goal of fomenting the participation of important companies representative of the sector in the first Multi Sector Export Fair: DR EXPORTS 2016, which will be conducted by the CEI-RD from the 27th to the 29th of June of this year, at the port of SANSOUCI, in the Capital.
Through this strategic alliance, which aims to coordinate the actions of the public and private sectors, the ability to foment the internationalization of our national production will be enhanced.
The agreement was reached on Thursday May 19 of this year, upon the signing of a letter of understanding between the Executive Director of the CEI-RD, Dr. Jean A. Rodríguez, and the president of the Dominican Association of Exporters (ADOEXPO), Mr. Álvaro Sousa, in a ceremony which took place at the CEI-RD.
While encouraging the initiative, Rodriguez highlighted the potential of the export sector as a development tool, which coupled with macroeconomic stability, plays an important role in the generation of income, jobs, and added value in the economy.
He went on to say that, based on that reasoning, the CEI-RD, will be holding the important forementioned event, “DR EXPORTS, the largest international trade fair for the national exporting sectors, with over 1,000 clients attending, representing the main purchasing companies in close to 50 countries.”
“This alliance is all about creating synergy between the public and private sector so that our exporters, as well as the international community, can take full advantage of this commercial platform, beginning with the local and international promotional efforts of this platform in order to achieve the desired number of buyers and presenters”’ he pointed out.
“As such, Adoexpo’s backing as an indispensable ally of the national export community, and its value as strategic partner of this initiative to continue to promote the internationalization of our production, will be put to good use in reaching our goals” emphasized the head of the CEI-RD.
Over 3,500 meetings
In that sense, the government official emphasized that the joint effort will help increase the ability to coordinate over 3,500 meetings between producers and buyers, with the potential result of signed contracts, and significant increases and diversification of our exports and their markets.
For his part, Mr. Álvaro Sousa, President of ADOEXPO, reiterated his commitment to continue working to strengthen the production sector now faced with the challenge of having to export with sustainable quality, in general, and specifically, to back DR EXPORTS’S promotional strategy in his condition of strategic partner, striving to “let the world know the best of our national exports sector”.
All export opportunities in sectors related to Agribusiness, Construction, Manufacturing & Industry, Health & Beauty, Technology, Cultural Goods, and Government & exporter services will be available and displayed under one roof.
The opening ceremony will be led by the President of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Danilo Medina, and during DR EXPORTS’ two-day program, a full calendar of activities such as lectures, conferences and panels will take place, all with the final objective of creating the greatest number of business meetings, that should translate into tangible wealth, which eventually leads to the country’s economic growth.
