Santo Domingo. – The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) and the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS), agreed to foment foreign investment in the health tourism sector, by developing new projects and promoting improvements in the installed and technological capacity of that booming sector of the economy.
The agreement was reached through the signing of an inter institutional accord, endorsed by Dr. Jean A. Rodriguez, Secretary of State and Executive Director of the CEI-RD and Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President and founder of the ADTS.
The accord also contemplates the creation of jobs and the transference of better practices and accreditation, in order to strengthen the quality and safety of health services to the benefit of local and foreign patients.
To emphasize the importance of the alliance, the head of the CEI-RD indicated that this institution has been supporting the actions and tasks outlined in the new investment promotion strategy of the Dominican Republic, emphasizing the investment in health tourism, which presents great opportunities for development, backed by the dynamic growth of our tourism, Medical Devices Free Zones, and pharmaceutical sector industries.
“and all of this is rooted in the commitment assumed by the President of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Danilo Medina Sanchez, to foment competitiveness and promote national and foreign investment, through the CEI-RD”, noted Rodriguez.
On his part, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, informed that the organization ADTS is making preparations to hold the III International Health & Well Being Tourism Congress from September 1st – 3rd of this year, at the Jaragua Hotel in the capital.
He stated that with the support of the CEI-RD, the collaboration of the Accredited Consular Corps, and the Dominican Popular Bank, a private event will be held with local and international investors in order to consolidate medical tourism projects, and retirement tourism in national territory.
He held that it’s the most important event in its area, in the Caribbean region, due to its innovative components and multi sector integration as well as, in terms of education and business development.
