Santo Domingo. The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD, for its initials in Spanish), and the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), signed a joint cooperation agreement to develop initiatives aimed at stimulating the vocation and required competencies in students and educators needed to create projects with export potential that can be developed with the attraction of foreign investment.
The commitment was established upon the signing of an interinstitutional cooperation agreement, endorsed by the heads of both institutions, Dr. Jean A. Rodriguez, Executive Director of the CEI-RD and Rolando M. Guzman Garcia, Dean of INTEC, in a ceremony held at the CEI-RD.
The agreement also calls for establishing a joint scientific, cultural and academic plan, comprehending research, training, cultural promotion, and extension of services in all common interest areas – in accordance with their objectives and functions –, with the final goal of promoting the continuous improvement of INTEC’S students and educator’s professional abilities.
In that regard, CEI-RD’S Executive Director stated that the alliance aims at strengthening the foundations in order to optimize abilities and improve the intellectual quality of human resources in both institutions, through the use of scientific, research, and educational activities.
“At CEI-RD, we are placing at the disposal of future professionals linked to our areas of work, exports and investment, knowledge and resources that we consider invaluable in order to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in national and international markets, and to better face the challenges present in those very markets”, explained Rodriguez.
“Likewise, the training and innovation facilities which can be found at CEI-RD, from now on will serve to carry out joint academic activities which we will be developing together with this prestigious university as a result of today’s commitment”, he added.
For his part, the Dean of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzman, while thanking the cooperative spirit which the CEI-RD has shown from the beginning of this administration, positively judged the openness and admirable disposition of this institution to encourage, promote, and provide research and training in the area of exports and investments to INTEC’S educational community.
“Promoting exporting entrepreneurship and fomenting foreign investment are key elements in the economic development of a nation, because of this, we are extremely pleased to be part of the goals this alliance with the CEI-RD is trying to achieve, especially because it allows us to ratify our commitment of contributing to the social transformation of the country through higher education, research, and the spread of science and technology”, emphasized Guzman Garcia.
He added that within the framework of the training activities, the preparations are underway to hold a magisterial lecture on Dominican exports and foreign direct investment, directed towards the students, administrative personnel, and INTEC’s teaching staff.
The CEI-RD is a government institution whose mission is oriented towards fomenting and promoting Dominican exports and the attraction of foreign direct investment, in order to propel the competitive insertion of the country into the international goods and services markets.
The INTEC is a nonprofit private institution of public purpose, created to contribute to the social transformation of the country, the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants, and the preservation of the moral and material heritage for the benefit of future generations, through higher education, cultural development, research, and the spread of science and technology
