HAYCO invests US$50 million in the country, which will create over 1,000 jobs in the initial stages.
Donated machinery is worth over US$500,000.
Santo Domingo. The Executive Director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD, for its initials in Spanish), Jean Rodriguez, received a donation valued at more than US$500,000 on behalf of the Dominican Government, from the executives of the HAYCO international company, for the purpose of producing high quality Dominican technicians that could begin working in the injection molding and die construction industry.
The donation became official upon the signing of a framework assistance agreement executed at the CEI-RD offices, on July 27th of this year, and was attended by HAYCO’S Executive Director, Donald Hay, the Executive Director of Wittmann Battenfeld, Georg Tinschert, the company responsible for the machinery’s construction; as well as Mike Hoyle y Dana Scully, executives at Procter & Gamble.
The head of the CEI-RD explained that the donation, received by the Dominican Government, will contribute to the formation of human resources, especially in the development of talent that can execute tasks related to the industrial processing of plastics and the injection molding industry on a national level.
“This donation marks the beginning of work on the creation of a training protocol that we will be developing together with INFOTEP and other institutions and seeks to train personnel to operate these machines, who will have the opportunity to opt for employment at the prestigious HAYCO Company”, expressed Rodriguez.
The donation consists of a Computer Numeric Control machine (CNC), with consumables, and a Battenfeld 60 ton Spark Erosion Machine (EDM). It will be the first time that machines of this class and sophistication will be used in the country and be available to Dominicans for training and operation.

The Director of the CEI-RD highlighted HAYCO’S initial investment last August which exceeded US$50 million, and will create over 1,000 jobs in its initial stage, together with the transfer of valuable know- how and abilities for the technical community, making the Dominican Republic a leader in plastic production technology within the Latin American region.
The government official explained the various initiatives which have been undertaken by the CEI-RD to attract this important investment to the country, working alongside them for the past 3 years in order to help materialize this project, by offering institutional support and comprehensive advice.
