- He appreciated with satisfaction the start of the Renewable Solar Energy System
Santo Domingo. The Executive Director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD, for its initials in Spanish), Dr. Jean A. Rodriguez, praised with satisfaction the Dominican Republic’s natural tendency to attract clean, unconventional, renewable energy investments, and in that regard, he characterized Carrefour’s undertaking to inaugurate a Renewable Solar Energy System as a historical landmark “making it the largest rooftop solar installation in all the Caribbean region”.
“Today, once again history is being made in the Dominican Republic because Carrefour has bet again on Quisqueya, by carrying out an investment which exceeds ninety million pesos and installing 4,744 solar panels to cover their needs, thus reaching new heights within a distinguishable trajectory”, stated Rodriguez.
The Executive Director of the CEI-RD expressed said considerations while speaking at the inauguration of the Carrefour Renewable Solar Energy System, which took place on April 21st of this year, on the facilities of the Carrefour commercial center, at the Duarte Plaza on km. 10½ of Duarte Highway in Santo Domingo.
“The execution of this project has not been a hastily made decision but rather a carefully analyzed idea, just as it was almost 17 years ago when they began operations in the country”, added Rodriguez.
While adding “and this decision is based on the country’s legal security and economic stability, our vast and modern telecommunications, sea, land, and air transportation infrastructure, and on highly qualified human resources, and specially, on the promises kept by President Danilo Medina, in particular the promise to continue supporting change towards the general use of alternate energy in the country”, said Rodriguez.
Solar Energy System
Carrefour of Santo Domingo inaugurated a modern solar energy system with an investment of over ninety million pesos and 4,744 solar panels which will produce 1.775 megawatts per year, with the purpose of partially meeting the energy needs of their commercial building located on kilometer 10½ of Duarte Highway.
Thanks to this system, there will be a 1,000 ton reduction in carbon dioxide emissions (CO2), which will greatly benefit the environment in the Dominican Republic.
This project was installed by the company “Solar Electric”, which has over 15 years of experience in the installation of clean energy systems, and is present on 4 continents.
