Diplomatic corps and Chamber of Commerce back DR EXPORTS 2016

  • Agree to a joint promotion strategy with the CEI-RD to attract important international companies

Santo Domingo.- Embassies and representatives of the accredited Consular Corps in the Dominican Republic (CCARD), together with the bi national chamber of commerce, agreed to implement a promotion strategy in conjunction  with the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), to promote and attract important international companies with the intent, that they participate in the  First Multi sector  Export Fair: DR EXPORTS 2016, an event that will be held from June 27th to the 29th  of this year, at the port of SANSOUCI in the capital city.

Following the planned strategy, the CEI-RD will join forces with over 24 representatives from accredited embassies in the country and established Chambers of Commerce in Dominican territory.

First in its class, this great event will be held in coordination with the CEI-RD, and the backing of President Danilo Medina’s Government.

The information was given during a press conference headed by CEI-RD’s Executive Director, Dr. Jean A. Rodriguez, on Thursday March 17 at CEI-RD headquarters.

Ties and business relations are fomented

Upon speaking to the present guests, the CEI-RD’s Director highlighted the fundamental role the Diplomatic Corps, together with the Chamber of Commerce play in accredited countries in terms of fomenting ties, business relations, and investment.

“That’s why, at the CEI-RD we advocate for members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps to continue being proactive and become promotion multiplying agents of DR-EXPORTS by identifying international companies with known capacities and potential, in order to achieve mass participation of the countries they represent”, emphasized Rodriguez.

50% is covered

He stated that thanks to the valuable collaboration of the national media, more than 50% of the stands and pavilions have already been reserved.

“This, combined with the collaboration commitment assumed by the Diplomatic and Consular Corps together with the accredited Chambers of Commerce, assures us a total success in DR-EXPORTS; and if we work together, we’ll have hundreds of buyers coming from the countries you proudly represent, and we will achieve unprecedented results, emphasized Rodriguez.

Satisfied Ambassadors

For their part, several present Ambassadors expressed the satisfaction of being able to contribute to the attraction of foreign corporations, while realizing that, this is a key and extraordinary opportunity so that all may see the favorable conditions and advantages offered by the Dominican Republic to the international business world.

Consular Corps values the opportunity

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Accredited Consular Corps in the Dominican Republic, Sonia Villanueva de Brouwer, gladly accepted the opportunity to foster commercial relations between the Dominican Republic and other nations, which she said – will result in promotion for the country.

Chambers ratify collaboration

While in representation of the Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Hans Witsenboer, president of the European Association of Chambers of Commerce (Euro Chambers), gladly accepted the commitment and reiterated the joint decision to work towards achieving a large and well rounded turn out.

During the event, the attending Ambassadors interchanged key ideas on how to promote RD EXPORTS in their respective countries, and thus reach potential national and international buyers.

Representatives from the embassies of  Chile, Colombia,   Costa Rica, Cuba, European Delegation, Ecuador, France, Haiti, México, Paraguay, and Republic of China (Taiwan).

DR EXPORTS

DR Exports is striving to become the largest exposition platform of international scope for the country’s export sector.  “Showcasing, under one roof, all export opportunities of the sectors linked to Agribusiness, Construction, Manufacture & Industry, Health & Beauty, Technology, Artisanal Goods, Government and export services”.

Over 1,000 interested clients are expected, representing mayor purchasing companies from about 50 countries.

The formal opening ceremony is scheduled to be led by the President of the Republic, Mr. Danilo Medina, and during the event a full activities agenda is programmed. This will include conferences, and panels with the goal of creating the greatest number of business meetings and ties, that will eventually lead to tangible investments that help the economic growth of the country.
