DR Exports will be the largest event of its kind in the entire region.
Santiago de Los Caballeros. – The Executive Director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD, for its initials in Spanish), Dr. Jean A. Rodriguez, announced today the celebration of the Multisector Export Fair DR Exports 2016, the largest and most important event of its kind ever to be held in the country and the entire region. The Fair will take place from June 27th to the 29th, at the port of Sansouci in Santo Domingo.
The Director made the official announcement during a press conference held for this purpose on the morning of June 7th, at the facilities of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce and Production, accompanied by Chamber of Commerce executives, as well as representatives from the Northern Region Industrial Association (AIREN, for its initials in Spanish) and by the Santiago Industrial Businessmen Association (ACIS, for its initials in Spanish).
One thousand potential clients for exporters
More than 1,000 interested clients, from over 50 countries, will visit this important event which is being coordinated by the CEI-RD.
Thousands of business meetings during two intense fair days.
The statistics also favor these positive projections: It is estimated that there will be over 3,500 business meetings in which contracts could be finalized, which would result in the creation of jobs and wealth for Dominicans.
DR EXPORTS: A pat on the back from the Government to exports
He added that the work being carried out by President Medina’s administration in matters of public policy has strengthened the sector, pointing out that DR Exports is “another great pat on the back from the President to the country’s production sector.” The event relies upon the Government’s comprehensive collaboration through the participation of various public entities, including the Ministry of Agriculture, the General Customs Office, and the Industrial Competitiveness and Development Center (PROINDUSTRIA).
Government and export sector: Working together
Rodriguez pointed out that “The success of DR Exports is guaranteed by the strategic alliance between the Government and the exporting sector, who will be working side by side to close important business deals which could have very positive effects on the national economy.”
In effect, the recent signing of a cooperation agreement between the CEI-RD and the Dominican Association of Exporters (ADOEXPO, for its initials in Spanish) constitutes what the official has referred to as “one of the many reasons that this multisector fair will achieve comprehensive results for the sector and the country”.
The growth of exports
In just the last decade, Dominican exports have increased by 55%, with an average annual growth of 4.5%, according to figures given by the Director of the CEI-RD.
