- Former President Hipólito Mejía visits fair grounds; he describes it as a great step forward, and asserts it is a milestone in the country’s history.
Santo Domingo. – DR Exports 2016 initiated operational and academic activities on Tuesday, June 28th, at the Port of Sansoucí Terminal. On opening day, former President of the Dominican Republic, Hipolito Mejia visited the fair and satisfactorily assessed the importance of this initiative, for the promotion of national exports.
While touring the fair, the former President, Hipolito Mejia, accompanied by Jean A. Rodríguez, Executive Director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic, (CEI-RD, for its initials in Spanish), described DR Exports 2016 as a great step forward in relation to public policies which favor exports, while stating that he has always been a staunch supporter of promoting opportunities in our production sectors, and of the quality of our exports to international markets.
After congratulating the Executive Director of the CEI-RD, the fair coordinating entity, Mr. Mejia said that he was firmly convinced that this type of platforms, are the fastest way to carry out commercial trade and place our products in foreign markets.
He emphasized that DR Exports 2016 is a milestone in the annals of the country’s economic history, and as such is an unprecedented event of its kind. “Only in Taiwan have I seen fairs of this magnitude, which is why I congratulate Jean A. Rodriguez, and his Government, for being the authors of this very valuable initiative to help materialize development objectives, and our competitive insertion into international markets”, stated Mejia.

For his part, the official stated that the event is open to the general public and invited all those interested to visit the exhibitions and participate in the free lectures and panels that are scheduled throughout the day.
ONE THOUSAND POTENTIAL CLIENTS AND THOUSANDS OF BUSINESS MEETINGS.
Over 1,000 interested clients, coming from more than 30 countries, will converge at this event, under the coordination of the CEI-RD.
Over 3,500 business meetings are projected to take place, all intending to finalize contracts, and, as such, the creation of jobs and wealth for Dominicans.
