The Dominican Republic’s geological profile has been a determining factor which for centuries has continued to place it as the oldest mining operation in America.
Currently, the country has the second largest gold deposits in America and produces a wide array of mining resources like: Gold, Silver, Bauxite, Ferronickel, Clay, Industrial Minerals (kaolin, feldspar, silica sand, and others), Larimar, Amber, Slate, Lime Stone, Gypsum, and Salt.
Mining’s added value, and its attractiveness to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), has grown within the last few years due to a rise in production levels of Gold, Marble and the main construction aggregates.
There are currently over 50 ongoing mining operations, enjoying incentives and benefits granted by Mining Law No. 146-71.
