The tourism industry has become the largest generator of hard currency in the country, thanks to a room availability of over 68,500 and 32 world class golf courses and renowned hotel chains. The Dominican Republic received more than 4.6 million visitors in 2013, generating revenue for over US$5 Billion, which makes the number one destination in the Caribbean.

This sector, benefits from Law No. 158-01 for Tourism Development in Underdeveloped Areas and New Hubs in Provinces and Areas of Great Potential.
